CPSC to hold informational seminar on furniture safety for suppliers, exporters in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia —  Officials from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are presenting a safety seminar here on Sept. 20 that is geared toward furniture suppliers and exporters.

Carolyn Manley and Steve Williams of the CPSC’s Office of International Programs will present the in-person-only event from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 20 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

The event is free of charge and will provide manufacturers important safety information regarding the most recent safety requirements for furniture, including the latest mandatory tip-over standard that went into effect for clothing storage units produced starting Sept. 2. Participants can also ask questions about other safety initiatives that are either already in place or that are expected to develop in the coming months including a safety standard for motion furniture that is being discussed in the industry.
