ATLANTA — Liberty Furniture has promoted Matt Smith to the role of chief operating officer (COO), which the company said recognizes “his exceptional leadership, operational expertise, and significant contributions to the company’s growth and success.”
Since joining Liberty Furniture in 2018 as vice president of logistics and customer service, the company said that Smith has played a pivotal role in transforming its supply chain, logistics, customer service, and operational performance.

“I am incredibly grateful and humbled by the opportunity to serve as chief operating officer at Liberty Furniture,” he said. “Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn from outstanding leaders, teammates, and mentors within our organization. Every success we’ve achieved has been the result of talented people working together with a shared commitment to our customers and partners.”
Smith also credits much of his professional growth to collaboration across the furniture industry.
“One of the greatest advantages of working in this industry is the willingness of people to share knowledge and help one another succeed,” he said. “Serving on the Board of the Furniture Shippers Association has broadened my perspective through collaboration with industry leaders.”
As COO, Smith will continue to oversee Liberty Furniture’s operations, including logistics, manufacturing, domestic quality assurance, and supply chain strategy. He will work closely with the executive leadership team to execute the company’s long-term growth initiatives while maintaining Liberty Furniture’s commitment to delivering exceptional value and service to its retail partners.
“Matt ‘s leadership, vision, and commitment to continuous improvement have had a profound impact on our organization,” said Jason Brian, president and chief executive officer of Liberty Furniture. “His ability to develop teams, drive operational excellence, and keep the customer at the center of every decision makes him the ideal leader to help guide Liberty Furniture into its next chapter of growth.”
