Matter Brothers Furniture names Steve King SVP, sales and operations

King brings more than 20 years experience to the new position

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Retailer Matter Brothers Furniture and Florida Leather Gallery have named Steve King senior vice president of sales and operations, a new position.

In this role, King will oversee departments including merchandising, purchasing, operations, IT, warehouse operations and marketing. He also will work closely with ownership to drive long-term strategic growth.

The company said he brings more than 20 years of experience to the role including 10 years with Ashley Furniture Homestores, where he was senior vice president and vice president sales for the Eastern U.S. and senior director of retail and sales operations. He also was a regional director during his first three years with Ashley.

He also was previously a general manager at Rooms To Go and before this was a store manager at Rhodes Furniture.

“Throughout his career, Steve has been a results-driven leader known for optimizing retail strategy, product development, business growth and marketing innovation,” the company said.

In his new role he reports to John Matter, president.

“Adding this position marks an exciting step in the continued growth of our company, and Steve is absolutely the right person to help lead that charge,” Matter said. “His extensive experience and strategic mindset make him a natural addition to our leadership team.
