WASHINGTON — The Consumer Product Safety Commission is holding a virtual meeting with industry participants on Monday, July 24, to further discuss a new safety standard for recliners.
The meeting will include participation from Kristen Talcott of CPSC Engineering Services and other agency staff who will address the new standard with members of the ASTM F15.42 Subcommittee on Furniture Safety, which requested the meeting.
The goal is to develop a safety standard that addresses entrapments involving recliners and other motion furniture, which the CPSC said have been associated with child injuries and deaths in recent years.
The meeting is open to various parties interested in addressing these safety issues. To participate and obtain additional information, contact Kristen Talcott at ktalcott@cpsc.gov.
