MARTINSVIILLE, Va. – Hooker Furniture, one of the nation’s leading home furnishings resources for case goods, leather furniture, and fabric-upholstered furniture, was awarded a Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) Green Ribbon Award at the recent High Point Market for its Commerce & Market Octavius Cocktail Table. Constructed with Iron and Mango Wood, the table was one of 26 products to earn the prestigious award this year.

“We are thrilled to receive this award as it demonstrates our continued commitment to positive change within the industry by supporting the SFC’s core focus on sustainability,” said Jeremy Hoff, chief executive officer of Hooker Furnishings. “Our partnership with the SFC has been invaluable as we continue our efforts to develop products and integrate sustainable processes across our organization.”

The Octavius cocktail table is part of Hooker Furniture’s Commerce & Market line. It is made with solid mango and iron.

The SFC announces the inaugural Green Ribbon Awards at every High Point Market. Chosen by SFC Ambassadors, the award is given to eco-friendly products offered by SFC manufacturer members that exhibit regularly at High Point Market. The award is given to products that meet qualifications on design, ingenuity, and true sustainability. The 2021 ambassadors were Anelle Gandelman, Breegan Jane, Clodagh, Jennifer Jones, John Douglas Eason, Laura Hodges, Laurence Carr, Libby Langdon, Robin Wilson, and Thom Filicia.

Hooker Furnishings joined the community of over 400 members of the SFC in July 2021. The company took the step to join the SFC to further its support of positive environmental change within the industry.

The SFC (501c6) is a coalition of manufacturers, retailers and designers dedicated to raising awareness and expanding the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices across the Home Furnishings Industry. The organization’s mission is to help companies reduce their environmental footprints as they grow, and to help consumers find healthy furnishings.
