Fusion Designs reimagines occasional furniture category

GOSHEN, Indiana —Fusion Designs, a manufacturer of solid wood, domestically produced case goods, announced it is reimagining its occasional category with the launch of three new contemporary collections that challenge perceptions of what solid wood, Amish furniture can be.

“We are breaking the mold of what consumers expect from Amish-made furniture,” said Allen Bontrager, chief operating officer of Fusion Designs, and designer of the new occasional collections. “Our goal is to be a product-forward company, and we want retailers to continually look to us to keep their offerings fresh and differentiated.”

Inspired by architectural elements such as arches, the Arden Collection features a show-stopping arched console table ideal for entryways or behind sofas, and two distinctive coffee table looks sized to accommodate both large spaces in need of a statement piece (48×48) or condos and townhomes (32×32). Hudson introduces unique pedestal-style legs that create visual drama without compromising functionality, while the Jaxon collection offers clean, simple designs with a choice of either round or square end tables that epitomize modern elegance.

Like all Fusion Designs products, all three solid wood occasional collections are available in all wood species, and a choice of more than 35 traditional hand-wiped finishes and 24 paints. Suggested retails range from $875 to $1,500.

“These new designs are indicative of the journey we’re on, in bedroom and dining, and most recently in solid wood barstools,” Bontrager said. “Category by category, we are contemporizing our product portfolio to attract a new generation of shoppers and appeal to how consumers want to live today, while remaining true to our craftsmanship ideals.”

All three occasional collections will be shown at the High Point Market next month (Plaza Suites – 1-540, Floor 1), but according to the executive, future product introductions will no longer be dictated by the traditional trade show schedule. Moving forward, new product will debut regularly on the company’s website, supported by printed and downloadable digital lookbooks, linked here, and digital marketing communications with retailers and design professionals.

“We are continuously building and revising prototypes every week,” Bontrager said, and “we believe having access to new product without having to wait for the next trade show will be a game changer for our customers, and for how Fusion Designs is perceived.”
