Broad River Retail re-opens Columbia, South Carolina store

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Broad River Retail, one of the nation’s largest independently owned and operated Ashley Store licensees, celebrated the grand re-opening of its fully renovated Ashley Store and Outlet at 108 Harbison Blvd. in Columbia on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025.

Originally opened in 2008, the 44,000-square-foot showroom underwent a complete transformation, including a full renovation, the addition of an Ashley Outlet, and an expanded Sleep Shop. The redesigned store now features the newest Ashley 7.0 showroom concept, a bright, open layout with complete lifestyle vignettes that make it easy for guests to imagine new collections in their own homes.

“This renovation reflects our ongoing commitment to the Columbia market and our guests across the Midlands,” said Manny Rodrigues, Broad River Retail president and COO. “We’re proud to bring our newest Ashley 7.0 store design here, where we can continue furnishing the homes and memories of families in this community.”

The upgraded Sleep Shop offers more than 40 mattresses from top brands such as Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster, Purple, Sealy, and Ashley Sleep. Guests can also explore Ashley’s full range of home furnishings, including bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, youth collections, accents, lighting and accessories.

Broad River Retail owns and operates additional Ashley locations in Columbia on Forest Drive and Forum Drive, serving the east and northeast sides of the city.

“Our Harbison Boulevard location has been a cornerstone of our growth since 2008, and this grand re-opening marks a new chapter,” said Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail CEO. “Columbia has been a key part of Broad River Retail’s journey, and this renovation allows us to reintroduce Ashley in a way that reflects the energy and growth we’ve experienced in this community.”

Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson joined Broad River Retail leaders and Memory Makers to cut the ribbon during the celebration. As part of the event, Broad River Retail donated $1,000 to Family Promise of the Midlands to support its mission to end homelessness in the community.

The Columbia renovation was made possible through the collaboration of the Ashley Furniture Industries design team, Luttman Architecture, LPD Construction, and Minutemen Electrical & Controls.

Broad River Retail, which operates Ashley Stores across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, has announced plans to open a new location in Easley, South Carolina, in late 2025.
