NEWINGTON, Conn. — Home News Now 125 retailer Bob’s Discount Furniture celebrated the opening of its 200th store here on Aug. 29.
Located at 3174 Berlin Turnpike in Newington, the community is where company founder Bob Kaufman opened the retailer’s first store in 1991. The 24,165-square-foot store is in the Newington Plaza Shopping Center, relocating from a short distance away at 3203 Berlin Turnpike.
The store is the company’s eighth Bob’s location in the state of Connecticut, where it also operates a distribution center.
The event was attended by Kaufman, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Mayor John Trister, as well as Minority Leader Tim Manke, and town councilor Gail Budrejko.
As part of the opening, the retailer donated $25,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network and also made two $2,500 donations to local charity CT Humane Society and John Wallace Middle School.

This event marked the relocation of Bob’s in Newington, which has served guests since the early 1990s when the company was founded.
