Agency says units fail to meet open-flame flammability requirements of the federal safety standard for mattresses
WASHINGTON — The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 100,000 mattresses sold on Amazon that pose serious injury or death related to a fire hazard.
While no injuries or incidents have been reported, the CPSC said the recalled Crayan mattresses fail to meet open-flame flammability requirements in violation of federal safety standard for mattresses, “posing a deadly fire hazard.”

This type of recall alerts manufacturers and retailers of the safety issues that are on the radar of the CPSC and the precautions that they or their suppliers must take before selling such products to the general public. In general, this requires the testing of mattresses and other similar products to ensure they meet flammability standards.
The recalled 10-inch and 12-inch Crayan bed-in-a-box mattresses were sold in twin, full, queen and king sizes. They are single-sided with a white knit quilted top with the brand name “Crayan” printed on the gray side panel. A white label sewn onto the mattress cover also states the fiber content, size and “WG/P Foundation.”
Made in Japan, they were sold online at Amazon.com from July 2022 through June 2024 for between $100 and $220.
Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the recalled mattresses and contact Crayan for a full refund. To receive a refund, they also must mark the mattress permanently with the word “Recalled” in large font across the white top panel and submit a photo of the marked mattress to crayan_service@hotmail.com to certify the unit has been disposed.
The CPSC said the company also is contacting all known purchasers directly. For additional information, consumers should contact Crayan collect at 779-605-4458 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. PT Monday through Friday. They can also email the company at crayan_service@hotmail.com.
