HIGH POINT — Luxury furniture manufacturer Jonathan Charles has promoted Garth Robinson to president.
Previously senior vice president of sales, Robinson succeeds founder Jonathan Sowter “in leading the North American business as part of a thoughtfully planned leadership transition designed to accelerate growth while preserving the brand’s creative vision and artisanal heritage,” the company said.
Jonathan Charles operates as part of Vivet, the North American division of Markor International Home Furnishings. Vivet oversees a portfolio of premium brands including A|R|T, Caracole, Jonathan Charles Furniture and Rowe Furniture, with a strategic focus on operational excellence, disciplined growth and long-term brand value across North America.
Sowter, who established Jonathan Charles as a luxury furnishings brand, will continue to lead product development and oversee manufacturing, ensuring that the craftsmanship, innovation and design integrity that define Jonathan Charles remain at the forefront. As the creative force and DNA of the brand, “Sowter’s ongoing leadership reinforces the company’s commitment to artistry, authenticity and uncompromising quality,” the company said.
In his new role, Robinson assumes full leadership responsibility for the Jonathan Charles brand across North America. The company said his promotion “reflects proven leadership, deep industry expertise and a strong track record of strengthening performance and strategic direction within the North American market.”
Robinson joined Jonathan Charles in May 2024 as senior vice president of sales, a position “where he quickly demonstrated the ability to build and mobilize high-performing teams, align strategy with execution and drive growth while reinforcing the brand’s premium positioning throughout North America.”
Prior to joining Jonathan Charles, Robinson spent more than 16 years with Theodore Alexander Furniture, most recently as senior vice president of sales. In that role, he provided executive leadership across sales strategy, product development and market expansion, contributing to sustained growth and market presence.
“Garth’s promotion reflects our continued commitment to disciplined growth and strong leadership across our North American portfolio,” said Mark Feng, chairman and chief executive officer of Vivet. “Jonathan Charles remains a cornerstone of our luxury platform, and this transition strengthens both commercial execution and long-term brand stewardship.”
Together, Robinson and Sowter will continue to advance Jonathan Charles Furniture’s legacy, honoring its heritage of artisanal craftsmanship while strengthening relationships with designers, retailers and trade partners across North America.”
