WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Upholstery manufacturer Palliser has named industry veteran Cary Benson president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 19.
He fills a role previously held by Steve Ambeau, who was named president of the Palliser brand in early 2024 and who has left the company. Peter Tielmann was CEO of the Palliser Furniture Group and remains president and CEO of Palliser Holdings Ltd.
The company said that Benson returns to a position he held from 2010 to 2017, and that during this period, Palliser “achieved meaningful improvements in sales performance and profitability, strengthened its operating foundation, and built trusted, long-standing relationships across its retail network.”
Since 2018, Benson has been president and CEO of Encore, the company’s cinema seating division. It noted that under his leadership, the division “experienced significant growth and delivered record results in 2025, demonstrating Cary’s ability to lead, remain focused on customers, and drive disciplined, sustainable growth.”
In his new position, Benson reports to Tielmann.
“Cary has been a member of our advisory board and brings deep institutional knowledge, a steady leadership approach and a strong understanding of what it takes to guide Palliser forward,” Tielmann said.
The company said that in his new role, Benson will focus “on improving performance and reinforcing Palliser’s commitment to its retail and cinema partners.”
“I believe in Palliser’s people, our product offering and our future, and I’m ready to lead the company forward,” Benson said.
