Black Friday spells opportunity for furniture retailers

With the official start to the holiday shopping season upon us, furniture stores around the U.S. continue to capitalize on yet another holiday sales event this Friday. In preparation for this, many retailers have updated their websites to offer big savings across categories throughout their stores, from living room, dining and bedroom to mattresses and accessories. It’s been a popular way to draw in shoppers as many begin their search online, whether through a store website or through the website of an e-commerce specialist. In either case, consumers have a chance to browse a wide selection of products before making their final selection in-store or on the retailer’s online platform. Below are a number of screen grabs that caught our eye and are likely to catch the eye of many shoppers. Let’s hope they also bring in plenty of sales heading into the holiday season.

Shoppers visiting Havertys can get significant savings on just about every category based on how much they spend. The offers are far and wide, starting with savings of $150 on every $1,000 spent up to $1,200 on every $8,000 or more spent and even more savings on purchases topping $10,000. In addition, 0% financing is available on furniture purchases of $7,499 and more and mattress purchases of $4,999 and more on the Havertys credit card made between now and Dec. 1.

American Furniture Warehouse is offering Black Friday deals on a wide mix of categories and products. A shop-now tab brings consumers to what’s on sale, offering not only descriptions and photography of each item, but also customer reviews. The site also lets customers know what’s in stock for immediate pickup while also offering home delivery. A tab on the same page showcases similar items that are available, helping make the shopping experience that much easier.

Slumberland is offering up to 60% off list prices as part of its Black Friday promotion. The deals can be found across various categories including mattresses, rugs and decor. Product descriptions and photography, along with various fabrics and finishes, bring each product to life, and consumers can also see whether product is in stock and how they can have it delivered to their door. The site also offers consumers ideas for lighting and wall paints along with tips on how to add color to any space in the home.

City Furniture’s website offers 10% discounts on non-sale items and orders over $995. Closeouts are also available at up to 70% off. And for in-store orders over $3,000, customers can get a free 65-inch TV. The site also offers a mix of flexible financing options that best suit the consumer’s budget and needs, answering questions about the credit application process right on the website.

At e-commerce specialist Wayfair, consumers can get up to 70% off and free shipping on a wide product mix including living room, bedroom, dining, mattresses and more. On select items, customers also can choose custom fabrics and finishes, allowing them to put their personal stamp on these purchases. Product descriptions and photography help make the selection process that much easier, even offering product dimensions so they know if it will fit their personal space. Customer reviews also let them know what others are saying about each item, giving an honest assessment that will help guide them in their selection process.

Living Spaces’ Black Friday event also offers a wide selection at low prices. From recliners starting at $140, sectionals starting at $595 to TV stands starting at $195, customers can shop by category, starting from the lower-priced items and moving up to higher-priced product that suits their needs. Clearance items are also available, helping extend the deals even further during the holiday promotion. Special financing is available, offering low monthly payments tailored to almost any budget.

Rooms To Go is offering big savings on a wide range of categories including bedroom, dining, living room, mattresses and outdoor furniture. Customers can see product descriptions and photography and can also narrow their search by style, price and product type, while also seeing their monthly payment with 55-month financing.

Ashley is offering discounts up to 60% as part of its Black Friday promotion. Like other retailers, it is offering savings across bedroom, dining, living room, youth furniture, outdoor furniture, home decor and rugs. In addition to product descriptions and photography, customers can see their monthly payment with 60-month financing that’s available. Customers can also read customer reviews and see different options such as fabrics on select items.

Baer’s Furniture is offering savings of up to 75% as part of its Black Friday promotion. It also is offering savings of up to 50% on key brands that are part of its product mix. In addition, savings are available on a wide variety of bedding brands such as Serta, Stearns & Foster, Tempur-Pedic, Kingsdown, Beautyrest and more. The website also offers insights on interior design, window treatments and custom upholstery.

Jerome’s website offers not only a host of deals by product segment, but, like the image shown above, it also shows people at home enjoying their furniture. The site is easy to shop, segmented by product category where they can further pick out exactly what they are seeking by style, brand and color, while also being able to further delve into product descriptions and product photography. Customer reviews also let viewers see what others are saying about the product. Special 60-month financing is also available with the Jerome’s Furniture Preferred Customer credit card.

At Casper, customers shopping the Black Friday sale can get deals up to 40% off select mattresses and 35% off bedding bundles. Whether they are looking for foam, hybrid or maximum support models, there are plenty of options to choose from and plenty of savings to be had. The site also helps educate consumers about mattress construction, offering details about the different layers that make up the mattress and thus make Casper such a unique product in the marketplace.

At La-Z-Boy, customers can shop a wide mix of upholstery ranging from chairs and recliners to sofas and sectionals, as well as dining, occasional and bedroom furniture. Discounts of up to 30% are available on select merchandise. Designer services also are available, allowing customers to receive professional design assistance and custom options for their upholstery selection. A short video on the site also tells the story of the ‘architects’ who make the product come to life through the company’s domestic manufacturing footprint.

Jordan’s Furniture is offering savings of up to 50% as part of its Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales event. Customers can also shop categories by brand and other product attributes by checking off boxes in a special filter to help them narrow down their selection from the many options available. Black Friday exclusives also are available offering even bigger savings across a wide mix of categories including bedroom, living room, dining and more.

Bob’s Discount Furniture is offering its Black Friday Bonanza featuring products at $999 and below across various categories such as bedroom, dining and living room. Customization is also available on select seating, and shoppers also can see what others are saying about the product mix in numerous product reviews. Low monthly payments are also available thanks to special financing offers.

Arhaus sets the holiday mood with this living room setting shown on its homepage. Visitors can shop by categories such as bedroom, living room and dining as well as outdoor furniture. Options in fabric and finish and even marble are available on select items for those looking to customize their product for their room setting. Discounts also are available on select holiday decor, offering another layer of cheer to the Black Friday event.

C.S. Wo’s website is offering numerous discounts on a wide mix of product as part of its Black Friday promotion. Sale prices are shown in red, with the original price in black crossed out above, just to illustrate the significant savings. The site lets consumers know what’s in stock, while also showing color options. It also describes its complimentary design services while also introducing consumers to its team of professional designers.


The Purple website offers savings of up to $800 off a mattress and base as part of its Black Friday sale. But the offers don’t stop there. A click on the shop mattresses tab unveils a host of deals, product descriptions, customer reviews and financing offers that make it hard not to say yes for those in the market for a new level of comfort.

Bassett Furniture is offering discounts ranging from 30% to 50% storewide, with savings across multiple categories including bedroom, dining, living room, mattresses, rugs and more. As a U.S. furniture producer, it also offers a mix of custom finishes and fabrics available to those wanting to personalize their selection. And to sweeten the deal, it’s also offering 24-month no-interest financing with purchases of $5,000 or 12-month no-interest financing for purchases of $1,200 or more using the Bassett Synchrony Home credit card.

Gardner White is offering a wide mix of Black Friday deals on furniture and bedding where customers can save an additional 30% on their purchase. For customers in its market area, it’s the gift that keeps on giving across many different categories. Customers can even have their purchases delivered by Thanksgiving for products that are in stock.

Hennen’s Furniture, which was just acquired by HOM Furniture, is clearing out inventory as part of its Black Friday sales event. The retailer offers something for every room, along with free design services that help consumers pick not just the right price, but the right product that suits their personal lifestyle. The site also highlights a wide mix of flooring options from area rugs and carpeting to tile, plus laminate and solid wood flooring.
