Palmetto Home to debut largest product mix in its 15-year history

Introductions include 5 case goods collections and 3 standalone occasional groups in its Curations by Palmetto Home living room collection

HIGH POINT — As it heads into its 15th year of business next year, case goods resource Palmetto is about to unveil its largest introduction at the upcoming October High Point Market.

The introduction includes five complete collections of bedroom, dining and occasional, three of which come in two finishes.

Representing coastal, midcentury modern and soft contemporary styles, the mix of wood species and finishes gives the collections a casual aesthetic, while offering a nod to familiar forms in beds, tables and case pieces. This also marks a shift from the largely coastal forms seen in its still-active licensed Panama Jack collection.

For example, its Modena collection has soft transitional design elements with rounded corners and light leather strapping in a panel bed, bed bench seating and a dining chair that contrasts with a darker wood finish called Charcoal. The group also comes in a lighter wood-tone finish, called Sandstone, that also showcases the depth of the oak wood grain seen on case pieces and the tops of a rectangular and round dining table.

This woven panel bed is part of Palmetto Home’s Modena collection.

Its Breezewood collection is made with rubberwood veneers and solids and comes in white and a textured wire-brushed Sand finish. It has a mix of coastal and casual traditional design elements, seen in the louvered detail on the headboard and footboard of a panel bed and the shaping of a second panel bed with an inset upholstered headboard and framed detailing on the footboard.

Part of Bungalow, this dresser features reeded details seen on the top drawer fronts.

Bungalow offers a mix of cottage and updated traditional design elements as seen in the shaping of a headboard on a panel bed and the base of a counter-height round dining table shown with a contemporized swivel chair and the base of a rectangular trestle table. Reeded details are seen throughout including on drawer and door fronts and on table bases. Made with oak veneers, it comes in two finishes, Cognac and Chalky White.

Hacienda is a stylistic departure with its modern Spanish plantation-inspired forms. Made with flat-cut white oak veneers in a Cocoa finish, it has three beds, including a wood panel bed, a four-poster bed with an upholstered headboard and footboard and a bed featuring a woven paper cord headboard. Hacienda also has two dining tables, both featuring turned legs.

Framed details highlight the doors of a buffet and the drawers of a nightstand while the tops of occasional tables feature grid molding under glass tops.

Modern Ranch is made with thick cut French flaky oak veneers in a midtone natural finish. It has a panel bed featuring a wood or inset upholstered panel and tongue-and-groove construction detail on the headboard and footboard. Similar joinery is seen on case pieces and mirror frames. The collection also has a round and a rectangular dining table, both of which feature Arts and Crafts-inspired bases along with round and rectangular cocktails.

Beds and dining tables are targeted to retail from $899 to $999.

The company also is showing three separate living room groups as part of its Curations by Palmetto Home. In addition to cocktail and end tables, they feature consoles and etageres, two- and four-door cabinets and accent chests. Cocktails are targeted to retail from $499 to $799.

The introductions highlight the company’s capabilities in wood furniture design along with its ability offer a mix of materials and finishes that suit the relaxed, casual lifestyles of today’s consumers.

“We want to let customers know we are not only coastal,” said Caroline Giles, a partner in the business. “We have capabilities to do any styles, any veneers and any looks that they want — we can accomplish it. We also have great partnerships with factories in Vietnam and Indonesia so we are able to mix different styles and materials to capitalize on all opportunities as much as possible.”

At market, the company shows in Space 401 of Market on Green.
