LENOIR, N.C. — Fairfield is deeply saddened to announce the passing of John Barclay Beall, chairman of the board, who passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 77.

John Beall became Chairman in 2015, continuing the Beall family’s legacy of leadership that has guided Fairfield for more than a century. Known for leading with integrity and humility, he was deeply respected for his compassion and unwavering belief in the people who make Fairfield what it is.
“John was a good and kind man, a strong Christian, and a strong leader,” said Anne-Lindsay Beall, lead director of Fairfield’s board of directors and a fourth-generation member of the Beall family. “He loved Fairfield and its people deeply. His values of faith, integrity, and care for others will continue to guide this company.”
The entire Fairfield family extends its heartfelt condolences to the Beall family and to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with John.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock or to Camp Blue Skies, a nonprofit serving adults with developmental disabilities.
