HIGH POINT — The Home Furnishings Association (HFA) has named Peter Theran, president of Home News Now 125 retailer Boston Interiors, as its next chief executive officer. He assumes his new position on Sept. 1.
He fills a role previously held by Shannon Williams, who stepped down from the role as the organization’s chief executive officer in June.
Theran has served as president of Boston Interiors since January 2019 and before this was vice president/head of consumer channels at Brookstone. He also previously was vice president, sales and marketing at massage chair resource Human Touch LLC and before this was vice president, global consumer products at 3D Systems Corp.

He also previously was vice president, sales and marketing at Universal Trailer Corp. and before this worked for 21 years at Bose Corp., in roles such as director, Americas Retail Direct and director Americas International Markets and as director, marketing and as senior product manager.
He also has been a member of the HFA board of directors since this past December.
“Known for his ability to blend strategic vision with hands-on leadership, he has successfully guided companies through growth, transformation, and heightened market relevance,” HFA said in a statement. “His deep industry knowledge, innovative thinking, and collaborative approach make him an ideal leader to help shape the future of the Home Furnishings Association.”
HFA Board President Dave Koehler said the HFA is very fortunate to have someone with Theran’s ability and experience to lead the organization.
“He has demonstrated his team-building skills and industry knowledge by leading Boston Interiors, and he will be a tremendous liaison to the industry and a dynamic leader for the HFA,” Koehler said. “I look forward to working with Peter as he transitions into his new role, and please join me in congratulating him on this exciting new opportunity.”
Theran said he is excited to be joining the very talented leadership team at HFA and looks forward to “continuing the long tradition of service to the member retailers across the country. We live in such rapidly changing times today, from the supply chain all the way through the customer experience on the showroom floor, the opportunity for HFA to add value to all home furnishings retailers small and large has never been greater. I am delighted to have the opportunity to be a part of HFA’s leadership as we take on those challenges.”
