HALEYVILLE, Ala. — Kith Furniture, based here, has suspended operations, Home News Now has learned.
The company, which had specialized in bedroom and occasional home furnishings, has been best known for offering a range of collections in finishes like driftwood, oak, aged white and chestnut, typically sold through regional showrooms and dealers across the Southeast — places like Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.
Home News Now learned of the company’s decision to close down after receiving calls from a number of the company’s sales reps.
Home News Now also reached out to the company where a receptionist said that none of the executives were available for comment. However, she did confirm that the company has closed its doors.
Launched in 2011, Kith Furniture specialized in promotional bedroom and entertainment furniture.
When the company launched in 2011, Kith Furniture’s principals were Craig Smith, president and CEO; Ken Smith, executive vice president, secretary and treasurer; and Bo Knight, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Craig and Ken Smith, both veterans of the furniture industry, were former executives with Harden Manufacturing, a bedroom producer that was founded by their father, Joe Mac Smith, in 1972.
The family sold a majority stake in Harden Manufacturing to Linsalata Capital Partners, a Cleveland-based private equity firm, in 2006.
Most recently, the company was under the supervision of Craig’s son, Dylan Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
No additional information about the company’s next steps was available at press time. Home News Now has reached out to Craig and Dylan Smith for comment and will update this story as more information becomes available.
