Malaysian International Furniture Fair sees increase in attendance from buyers, exhibitors

March 1-4 show also reports an increase in written orders during the event

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The 2025 edition of the Malaysian International Furniture Fair had a successful run with increases in exhibitors, buyers and written business.

The March 1-4 show was held in about 1 million square feet of space at two venues, the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Center and the World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur.

It drew 19,566 trade visitors from 120 countries and regions, which the show said was up 3.4% from last year’s event. The countries with the highest numbers of visitors included China, Singapore, the U.S., Japan, India, Australia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam and the U.K. Canada was also among the top visiting countries.

Malaysia represented the largest visitor attendance, at 10,364, or 53% of the total. There also were 3,520 invited guests, or 18% of the total. This included guests from government agencies, embassies and high commissions, trade associations, universities/institutions and students.

International visitors represented about 29% of the total attendance, the show reported.

Altogether, North American visitors represented about 10.4% of the overall 5,671 international attendance, compared with 38.4% from the Far East and 19.6% from the Asean region. This was followed by 8.77% from Europe, 8% from Asia, 6.12% from Oceania, 4.9% from the Middle East and 2.8% from the continent of Africa. Less than 1% were from South America.

As the show also has a commercial office and hospitality component, some 30% of visitors were shopping for commercial furniture while half were shopping for residential furniture, with the balance seeking furniture parts and components and finishing materials.

The show also reported that there were 742 exhibitors, up 3.8% from last year. In addition to Malaysia, which represented the largest number of manufacturers, the show had exhibitors from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, India, the United Arab Emirates and the U.S.

“The growth in exhibitor numbers and the strong turnout from both local and international buyers affirm MIFF’s reputation as a key player in the global furniture market,” said Kelie Lim, general manager of the show. “This year’s results highlight MIFF’s continuing importance as a dynamic marketplace where global furniture professionals meet, connect and drive growth.”

In addition, officials reported that the show recorded estimated on-site sales of $1.31 billion, up 3% over 2024 figures.

Next year’s show is planned for March 4-7, 2026. For more information, visit, www.miff.com.my.
