Hekman to offer aggressive product launch at April High Point Market

23-piece Tacoma collection is among the highlights along with new home office and occasional, plus new domestically produced wood furniture by sister company Howard Miller

HIGH POINT — Case goods and upholstery source Hekman Furniture is launching a wide assortment of new products across all major categories this market, making it a one-stop shop for style-driven products at upper-middle to upper-end price points.

Its major introduction this market is the 23-piece Tacoma collection, which has casual transitional design elements. It is made in Indonesia with hardwood solids and white ash veneers in a hand-rubbed golden pecan finish that features a black glaze that highlights the grain patterns of the ash veneers along with tonal variations of the wood, including knots.

The collection has eight bedroom pieces including a panel bed, a dresser, an armoire, a mirror and two different nightstands, including a three-drawer version and a single-drawer version. There also are five dining pieces including a 76-inch rectangular and a 54-inch round dining table as well as two different chairs and a sideboard.

A king bed retails around $1,799, and the rectangular dining table retails for about $1,959.

This panel bed and accompanying case pieces are part of Hekman’s Tacoma collection.

On the occasional side, there are 10 items in the collection, including four cocktail tables featuring a 44-inch-long rectangular version, a 56-inch-long three-tiered version, a 40-inch round version and a 48-inch rectangular version with drawer storage. There are also three different end tables, a round lamp table, a chair-side table and a 54-inch sofa table.

Outside the collection, on the executive office side, there are 10 new pieces made with urban ash burl veneers in a hand-rubbed Chestnut Brown finish. These include a 72-inch executive desk and 72-inch credenza and a 75.5-inch executive deck. Other key pieces include a 60-inch junior executive desk, a 60-inch executive writing desk, a 72-inch executive L-desk as well as a lateral file and companion bookcases.

About a third of the accents, office and entertainment products are made in Indonesia and the balance is made in India.

On the seating side, there are four new transitional dining chairs, a new counter/bar stool and three new accent chairs. In addition, the company is showcasing side chairs and host and hostess chairs in displays that help give retailers new, imaginative ways to showcase these products.

This Farmhouse cocktail table, another of the new products at Hekman, has two framed drawers with a lower shelf all mounted on metal legs. It also has a taupe finish with white glaze and a black finish on the hardware.

The company is showcasing these and other products including its Novo custom upholstered headboard program along with its custom office chair program. Both are available with custom fabrics, allowing the consumer to tailor the product to their specific environment. All upholstered products are made in North Carolina.

The company said that it expects its new products to hit retail around this coming September.

Sister company Howard Miller is adding several new bar cabinets and sit-down bars, noted Jim O’Keefe, vice president of sales.

“The spring market will build on our success with metal and glass, solid wood with hand-forged iron, and solid wood carving with stunning finishes that are truly show-stoppers,” he said. “Our wall clock introductions are probably the strongest ever, and it was hard to pick which we would feature this market. This offering builds on successes we’ve had with moving gears, mixed materials (metal and glass as well as metal and wood), but also explores some exciting emerging color palettes.”

He added that “tariffs continue to mire the furniture industry in uncertainty, but we’re ready with new product and inventory to back it up.”

“Our factory in Zeeland, Michigan, is cranking out made-in-America grandfather clocks, curio and storage cabinets, bar cabinets, custom consoles, our growing offering of modular cabinets and Hekman custom desks,” he said. “Our factory in High Point, North Carolina, is cranking out made-in-America industry-leading, lifetime-guaranteed dining chairs, counter/bar stools, accent chairs, beds and ottomans. We couldn’t be prouder of our domestic manufacturing facilities.”

At market, Hekman and Howard Miller show in Space 754 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
