Sleepeezee rejoins Spring Air International as licensee in Australia

WOBURN, Massachusetts – Sleepeezee Bedding, a leading mattress manufacturer and supplier in Australia has rejoined Spring Air International as licensee for the country in a new 20-year deal.

Launched in Melbourne in 1956, Sleepeezee is one of Australia’s largest combined bedding manufacturing and importer with more than 160 employees and plants in four major cities, including Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and its homebase, Melbourne. Part of Mantzis Group, and owned and operated by the Mantzis family, Sleepeezee supplies bedding products to premium retailers both nationally and internationally.

The new agreement marks the second era in Sleepeezze’s relationship with Spring Air in Australia. The company was formerly a licensee from the mid-90s until 2007.

“We felt the time was right to realign, because we have very similar companies from a DNA point of view,” said Bill Mantzis, managing director of Sleepeezee. “I’ve kept in touch from afar over the years, and I have been very impressed with how Spring Air has grown into a globally recognized brand under Nick Bates’ leadership.”

According to Mantzis, Spring Air’s product line made the brand a strategic choice for Sleepeezee, and the company plans to incorporate all the best-selling collections into its business, from Back Supporter to Chattam & Wells.

“Spring Air is a great story with great history and global reach that we can leverage in the Australian market. They are a true mattress manufacturer with a build-the-mattress-the-right-way mentality,” Mantzis said. “They believe that the ‘feel is the deal,’ and in constructing mattresses with quality materials, because you can’t achieve one without the other. And, like us, they understand the importance of taking care of their customers.”

“Sleepeezee operates very much as we do in the U.S.,” said Bates, president and chief executive officer of Spring Air International. “They offer better quality product for a better value, and they want the retailer to make a higher margin with their product. It’s a philosophy where everybody wins, and we are pleased to be re-establishing our partnership with a like-minded team and the opportunity to grow Spring Air’s brand status across the continent.”
