Lancer Furniture returning to High Point after 6-year absence

Upholstery manufacturer will show about 30 items including sofas, a power motion sectional and new power motion recliners

HIGH POINT — Upholstery manufacturer Lancer Furniture is returning to the High Point Market after a six-year absence with a newly revamped product line that includes new fabrics, new seating designs and several new motion upholstery frames.

In its 5,000-square-foot showroom in Space 218 of 220 Elm, Lancer is showing roughly 30 pieces, including 16 stationary sofas, a power motion sectional and seven reclining chairs with power motion functionality, to name several key items.

The made-to-order pieces are available in 675 fabrics and 65 leathers. Sofas ranging from 75 inches to 94 inches in length are targeted to retail from $1,699 to $2,699 in fabric and from $2,899 to $4,999 in leather.

The sets are produced in its factory in Star, North Carolina, which officials described as a vertically integrated facility that produces everything from wood frames to upholstered seating. Cut-and-sew operations for fabric and leather covers also are done in-house.

“Lancer hasn’t lowered the quality of the wood, coils or foam — the ‘guts’ of our product — in decades, and we have no plans to in the future,” said Zaven Deese, chief operating officer and a third-generation member of the Lancer Furniture executive team. “What we’ve been working on for the better part of a decade is ensuring the exterior matches — and even exceeds — the integrity of the interior. We’ve elevated fabrics, updated silhouettes and refined our designs to be more timeless and mainstream. We believe now is the perfect time to show the industry our ‘glam-up.’ At the same time, we remain committed to our nearly 60-year tradition of vertical integration and manufacturing in America.”

Lead times are four to six weeks, meaning customers can order product at market and receive it before the Christmas holiday.

“We would be a good fit for any dealer out there,” Glendon Mabe, national sales manager, told Home News Now, noting the company’s facilities are equipped for both large and small orders alike. “We have 900 tools in the shed — if you want to use one or all 900 you can.”

“Lancer has been a diamond in the rough for 56 years,” Mabe added of the company’s construction, quality and custom story. “And now we have the fabrics and the frames, and the right price point with a drop-in coil that no other manufacturer has and with the custom options that other manufacturers don’t have. We have implemented those into the line over the past eight years and have executed this very, very well.”

The company has also partnered with Capel Rugs, which is showing area rugs in the space during the market cycle. The showroom will be open for customers attending next week’s premarket and the Oct. 25-29 High Point Market.
