HICKORY, N.C. — Century Furniture has named industry veteran John Jokinen as vice president of upholstery.
In this position, Jokinen will oversee all sales and marketing activities for the company’s upholstery division. The company said he also will be responsible for driving “strategic growth across Century’s upholstery offerings, leading the sales and marketing teams and strengthening customer relationships to further enhance Century’s position in the high-end upholstery market.”

He comes to the company from EJ Victor where he worked for more than 27 years most recently as senior vice president for nearly three years and before that as sales director for nearly five years.
He started with the company as an outside sales representative, a role he held for nearly 24 years. He also was a brand ambassador and OEM relationship manager over the years at EJ Victor.
In his new position, which has not been officially filled in recent years, he reports to Alex Shuford III, chief executive officer at Rock House Designer Brands, which includes Century.
“John brings a deep understanding of the high-end upholstery category and longstanding relationships within the industry,” Shuford said. “His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our upholstery business and align our product offerings with emerging market opportunities.”
“I am honored to join Century Furniture, a brand I’ve long admired for its craftsmanship and innovation,” Jokinen said. “I look forward to working with the talented upholstery team to build upon the company’s legacy and help shape its future growth.”
Jokinen resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his family.
