FMCA holds 64th Annual Shareholders Meeting, announces new board leadership

Brian Spencer, director of credit at Hooker Furnishings named president; Randy Abernathy, corporate credit manager at Bernhardt, elected vice president

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Furniture Manufacturers Credit Association held its 64th Annual Shareholders’ Meeting here on May 15, 2025.

FMCA described this as a hybrid meeting with in-person members gathering at the Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport in Greensboro, and others attending virtually.

At the meeting the FMCA elected the following leaders to its 2025 Board of Directors.

Randy Abernathy

+ Brian Spencer, director of credit at Hooker Furnishings, was elected president, at large, with his term expiring May 2027.

+ Randy Abernathy, corporate credit manager at Bernhardt, was elected vice president, at large, with his term expiring May 2028.

+ Aimee Wassel Shinosky, credit risk manager at La-Z-Boy, was elected treasurer, at large, with her term expiring May 2026.

+ Wendy Tester, director, corporate credit at Lee Industries and American Leather, was elected secretary, at large, with her term expiring May 2027.

Also serving on the board are:

+ Charles Aiosa, senior vice president, Rosenthal Capital Group. His term expires in May 2026.

+ Ron Teglas, director of credit at Lexington Home Brands. His term expires May 2028.

+ Dave Carpenter, who is serving as an outside director. The retired home furnishings veteran has served 38 years in the industry.

David Johnston continues to serve as the FMCA’s vice president and general manager.

FMCA is a member-owned association established in 1961 for credit professionals in the home furnishings supply industry, governed by a board of directors elected from its membership.

At the meeting, attendees also heard a virtual presentation on leading through mistakes by Amy Cook, CCE, credit manager at McNaughton-McKay Electric and Caniff Electric Supply. A key theme was how to emerge a stronger leader by learning from and leading through mistakes. It was followed by an interactive discussion among those in attendance who shared personal experiences on the subject.

Abernathy also gave a presentation on the results from FMCA’s year-end review, performed by accounting firm Smith Leonard PLLC.

The FMCA also announced it will hold its Fall Education Conference on September 11-12, 2025, at the Hyatt House Raleigh Seaboard Station in downtown Raleigh, N.C. In addition, the organization is running a summer new member special from now until the end of August with no dues for 2025 and 30 free credit interchange reports.
