CPSC announces recall of 1,900 Aiho chests sold at walmart.com

If not anchored to the wall, these units pose a tip-over hazard that can harm children

WASHINGTON — The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 1,900 chests sold by retailer Walmart that pose a tip-over hazard that can harm children.

The recall involves the Aiho chests, which were sold online at www.walmart.com from September 2023 through March 2025 for about $80.

It was not clear whether there have been any incidents or injuries associated with the units, which the CPSC said are unstable if not anchored to the wall.

However, the recall notice said that they violate the performance and labeling requirements of the Stop Tip-Overs of Risky Dressers on Youth (STURDY) Act as well as CPSC’s implementing regulations. The CPSC said both measures establish a mandatory safety standard to prevent injury or death caused by unstable clothing storage units.

The agency said it issued a Notice of Violation to the seller, Shenzhen Yiqun Technology Co. Ltd. of China, which does business as Aiho Inc. of China. However, it said the company “has not responded to CPSC’s repeated requests to recall these dressers or offer a remedy to consumers.”

Measuring 16 inches deep by 28 inches wide by 37 inches tall, the five-drawer chests are not labeled and come in a plain white finish. The top two drawers are half the width of the unit, and the bottom three drawers are the full width of the unit. All drawers also feature cutout handles, the CPSC said.

The agency has urged consumers to stop using these chests immediately and dispose of them in accordance with local disposal requirements. It also has urged them to not sell or give away the unsafe units for fear that someone else could experience a tip-over incident in their home.

Consumers also can anchor the units to the wall to help prevent tip-over incidents. More information on how to safely anchor furniture to the wall is available at www.anhorit.gov.

The CPSC also said that consumers can report any incidents involving injury or product defect to CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.
