This week’s second installment of Consumer Insights Now, sponsored by Bread Pay and PayTomorrow, focuses on what remains the focal point of the home — the living room. As this has long been the case, upholstery continues to be the most sought after furniture category people are looking to purchase in the second half. Here, we present data on the types of pieces people are looking to purchase in both sofas and sectionals, including stationary and motion upholstery. The data is further broken down by what people are looking to purchase by age group, income levels and home owners versus renters. In addition, readers will get a sense of the number of consumers who prefer fabric versus leather by generation and income level. And with 76% looking to purchase in store, the survey looks at where consumers are planning to shop and how much they are planning to spend on both sofas and sectionals. In addition, the survey looks at how consumers define quality in both upholstery and how long they expect their upholstery to last. Quality is also a factor in other other living room furniture purchases such as entertainment centers, another key focal point of the room given the amount of time people spend watching movies and playing video games. Data on this and occasional tables is also included here, giving readers an inside track into who plans to buy this type of furniture, how much they plan to spend and where they plan to make their purchases.
